A house just off Catherine Hill.

We are a small independent dental practice in Frome: two dentists, a hygienist and two nurses, in a Georgian house a few steps off Catherine Hill. We've been here since 2015.

We look after families from the town and the villages around it. Children are seen on the NHS; adults join the practice plan or pay our published fees. Most of the people who come through the door were sent by someone who already does.

The rest of this page is a proper introduction. Here is Anna, here is Sam, here is Leah and the nurses, here are the rooms, and at the bottom is how to find us and when we're open.

Dr Anna Wellow, dentist

Anna opened the practice in 2015, and the house was her idea. She wanted somewhere people would walk into without their shoulders going up.

She sees most of our nervous patients. Her habit is to tell you what she is about to do before she picks anything up, and to put it down again if you'd rather she didn't. A first appointment with Anna is forty minutes, and it can be a conversation and nothing more.

She is registered with the General Dental Council, as are Sam and Leah.

Dr Sam Hart, dentist

Sam is the other dentist, and his room is at the back of the house, where the window looks onto the garden wall. He does most of the mending here: fillings, crowns, and the root canal treatment that people dread more than they need to.

He explains things in the words you'd use yourself, tells you the cost before anything is agreed, and will happily draw it on a bit of paper if that helps. He has never minded being asked to stop.

When something needs mending

Leah, and the nurses.

Leah, hygienist

Leah is our hygienist. She cleans teeth properly, shows you what's going on with a mirror rather than a lecture, and is gentler than people expect. A visit with Leah is £72, or part of the plan if you're on it.

The two nurses

Our two nurses are in every appointment. They'll be the first people you see when you come through the door, they'll find the children's corner for anyone under four feet tall, and if you'd like someone to sit with you while you wait, that's them too.

The rooms.

Here is the rest of the house in daylight, so that when you come in for real you'll know where you are.
